Import an estimate from Sage Estimating

Sage Estimating (cloud), formerly Sage BidMatrix, allows you to import budgetary estimates created in Sage Estimating. You can use these budgetary estimates to compare your budgets for each bid package and bid package phase against the budgets you receive from subcontractors.

  1. Go to Projects.

  2. On the Projects page, open the project by selecting Enter on the project tile or the enter icon (Enter project icon.) next to the project row.

  3. Select Import Estimate from the toolbar.

  4. In the dialog, do the following:

    1. Select Sage Estimating, and then select Next.

    2. Select the estimate that you want to import, and then select Next.

You can also import a Sage Estimating estimate from an exported file instead using the Upload File option.
    3. From the Bid Package and Phase lists, select the values from the Sage estimate to identify bid packages and phases in the Sage Estimating (cloud) project, and then select Next.

    4. From the Bid Package and Phase dropdowns, select the Sage estimate values to use for identifying bid packages and phases in the Sage Estimating project, and then select Next.

    5. If this is the first time you import an estimate or new cost category names appear in the imported file, do the following:

      1. For each category in the file select the relevant Sage Estimating (cloud) cost category from the dropdown.

      2. If no relevant cost category exists in Sage Estimating (cloud), Admins and Librarians can create a new one by selecting Add New Category from the dropdown.

This allows them to define a cost category and link it to the corresponding name in the imported file. Each cost category can only be mapped to one name in the file.

      3. Select Finish.

When the import is complete, the Summary Sheet displays a bid package for each bid package that was included in the Sage estimate. You can expand a bid package on the Summary Sheet to see the phases for that bid package. Each phase also displays the budget for that phase. The budget is the cumulative total of the items that were assigned to the phase in Sage.
