Importing an estimate from Sage Estimating

BidMatrix allows you to import budgetary estimates created in Sage Estimating. You can use these budgetary estimates to compare your budgets for each bid package and bid package phase against the budgets you receive from subcontractors.

Before importing from Sage Estimating

  • Install the Skybridge application. For information on the Skybridge application, see About Skybridge.

  • Make sure the items in the Sage Estimating estimate are assigned to both a bid package and a bid package phase that is associated with the bid package. Typically, you use Sage WBS codes to represent bid packages and bid package phases.

To import an estimate:

  1. On the Summary Sheet toolbar, select Import Estimate.

  2. Select Sage Estimating and then select Next.

  3. In the Import Estimate dialog:

    1. Select the estimate you want to import, and then select Next.

    2. From the Bid Package and Phase lists, select the values from the Sage estimate to identify bid packages and phases in the BidMatrix project, and then select Next.

    3. If this is the first time you import an estimate or new cost category names appear in the imported file, for each category in the file select the relevant BidMatrix cost category from the dropdown.

    4. If no relevant cost category exists in BidMatrix, Admins and Librarians can create a new one by selecting Add New Category from the dropdown.

This allows them to define a cost category and link it to the corresponding name in the imported file. Each cost category can only be mapped to one name in the file.

    5. Select Finish.

When the import is complete, the Summary Sheet displays a bid package for each bid package that was included in the Sage estimate. You can expand a bid package in the Summary Sheet to see the phases for that bid package. Each phase also displays the budget for that phase. The budget is the cumulative total of the items that were assigned to the phase in Sage.
